Our intent:

At South End, the intention is that children gain a firm understanding of what music is.  This is achieved through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing and composing across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions and musical genres. Our vision is for all children to develop a curiosity for the subject, as well as an understanding and acceptance of the importance of all types of music. We are committed to ensuring children understand the value of music in the wider community. This will allow them to use their musical skills, knowledge and experiences in a variety of different contexts. Our music curriculum is linked to our project learning where appropriate so that children can make purposeful links within their learning.
