What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium funding from the government is given to schools to help pupils reach their full potential, regardless of their background or financial situation. If your child is eligible for a Targeted Free School Meal and you register them for this, we’ll receive extra funding called a pupil premium grant. We use this extra money to improve the educational provision and resources at the school.

How can it benefit your child?

At SEJ, children registered as Pupil Premium benefit from a number of strategies, including but not limited to:

• Individual or small group tuition sessions to accelerate progress in English and maths
• Three mentoring sessions a year with the headteacher or deputy headteacher to maximise progress and overcome any barriers
• Specialist-delivered small group teaching sessions to close gaps or stretch them to a higher standard
• Activities to encourage talk to take home before the main school holidays to complete with family members
• Access to quality interventions in phonics and number if needed
• Teachers and support staff who are highly-skilled and receiving ongoing CPD to ensure quality-first teaching for all
• Pastoral support to ensure that your child is happy and ready to learn
• Free school meals and milk
• Financial support for educational visits, including the residential stay in Year 6
• Priority access to extra-curricular clubs
